His social life has moved online, and you can only see part of it.
Maybe he games alone, fine in the game and quiet the moment the headset comes off. Or maybe he’s social online, but with people you’ve never met, often much older, in servers you’ll never see. That’s where scams happen and where people who don’t mean well go looking, and it’s almost impossible to know who he’s really talking to. Either way, the gaming was never the problem. Nothing has just used it as the way in.
A safe place to be social online, with people his own age
All Ability Gamers is a small, mentor-led group he joins from home, on Discord, playing games he already knows. The difference is who he’s with and what happens around the game.
One of the young men in our adult group started right here, on the Monday night sessions. As his confidence grew, he began coming along to our in-person social nights too. He’s built real skills, got to know people, and now has a mate he sees outside the program entirely. Someone he first met through us.
That’s the whole arc in one person. Online, to in-person, to a friendship that lives in his actual life.
Run by a dedicated facilitator who leads the group every week and knows every person in it, backed by a Perth NDIS provider built around young men aged 13 to 25 who don’t fit the standard mould.

Before he joins, we have a quick fit call to check it’s right for him and that it fits his NDIS plan. It’s claimable under Social and Community Participation or Increased Social and Community Participation funding. There’s no lock-in, and if the first session isn’t right, tell us and we’ll help you find something that is.
That’s the heart of why we built it. The group is moderated, the people in it are his own age and known to us, and a mentor is on every session. It’s the opposite of a random public server.
That’s exactly who this is built for. No one is made to perform. The mentor meets him where he is and builds from there, one week at a time. Quiet is welcome on day one.
No. The games are just the comfortable starting point. Some of the group play together, some play their own thing and chat. The connection is the point, not the skill.
